The $95 diagnostic
The diagnostic on an ice maker is $95, and it comes off the repair: agree to the job and the $95 is deducted from the price for parts and labor. You pay it separately only if you hear the price and decide not to repair — and if you change your mind later and call back, it still comes off the repair.
The repair price
The repair price itself depends on what is actually broken, and that is known after the diagnostic: one symptom can have several different causes, each with its own part and its own price. An ice maker that stopped producing can need an inlet valve, a tray sensor or the ice maker module — three different repairs. The technician tests the unit first, then gives you one price for the whole job, parts and labor, and you decide with that number in front of you.

A frozen tray, chute or fill tube can come from a leaking inlet valve, a failed heater or a seal letting warm air reach the ice path. The technician clears the ice, finds why it formed and tests the valve, heater and seal before replacing a part.
