Stan at Starchenko Repair took the time to find the real problem and then patiently spent a lot of time figuring out the problem that the first repair person created. Cooktop needed repairs and called Starchenko and they sent out a technician the same day. Stan showed up on time and went to work on the issue. He was very professional, and careful with the removal of the cooktop making sure not to damage the surrounding countertop. He identified the issue, fixed it, and had the unit working by dinner time! They were reasonably priced and will definitely use them again when I have appliance issues and don’t feel like shelling out hundreds if not thousands of dollars to replace!

What stove repair costs — and when you know the number
Stove repair cost comes down to two numbers: the $95 diagnostic and the repair price the technician gives you after testing the stove or range.
The $95 diagnostic
The diagnostic on a stove or range is $95, and it comes off the repair: agree to the job and the $95 is deducted from the price for parts and labor. You pay it separately only if you hear the price and decide not to repair — and if you change your mind later and call back, it still comes off the repair.
The repair price
The repair price itself depends on what is actually broken, and that is known after the diagnostic: one symptom can have several different causes, each with its own part and its own price. A burner that will not light can need an electrode, an ignition switch or a spark module — three different repairs. The technician tests the appliance first, then gives you one price for the whole job, parts and labor, and you decide with that number in front of you.

Stove and range problems we repair
If your stove or range is doing one of these, the technician tests the controls, ignition or heating circuit, names the cause and gives you one price for parts and labor — and most parts are already in the van.
Gas burner not lighting
A burner that clicks but does not light usually has a dirty burner head, a failed spark electrode or a weak ignition module. The technician checks the electrode, igniter, burner ports and gas flow, then replaces or cleans the part causing the fault.
Burner keeps clicking
Continuous clicking can come from moisture around the burner, a stuck ignition switch or a spark electrode that cannot sense a flame. The technician dries and tests the ignition circuit, then checks the switch harness and spark module before replacing anything.
Electric burner not working
One dead electric burner usually points to the surface element, its receptacle or the infinite switch behind the knob. The technician tests the element and switch separately and checks the terminal block for heat damage.
Stove top not heating
If the whole stove top stays cold, the cause may be incoming power, the main control or more than one failed surface switch. The technician verifies power first, then traces the heating circuit so the repair is based on the failed part rather than the symptom alone.
Broken stove knob
A cracked knob may be the only failed part, but a knob that spins without controlling the burner can also mean the valve stem or switch shaft is damaged. The technician checks the control behind the knob and replaces the knob, stem or switch that actually failed.
Gas smell at the range
Do not use the range or keep trying to light it. Turn it off and call us or your gas utility; the technician can check the burner valves, connections, regulator and ignition system before the appliance is used again.

Why does my gas burner click but not light?
The spark may be jumping in the wrong place, the burner ports may be blocked or the ignition switch or spark module may have failed. The technician checks the electrode, burner head and ignition circuit to identify which part is causing the clicking.
