Stan at Starchenko Repair took the time to find the real problem and then patiently spent a lot of time figuring out the problem that the first repair person created. Cooktop needed repairs and called Starchenko and they sent out a technician the same day. Stan showed up on time and went to work on the issue. He was very professional, and careful with the removal of the cooktop making sure not to damage the surrounding countertop. He identified the issue, fixed it, and had the unit working by dinner time! They were reasonably priced and will definitely use them again when I have appliance issues and don’t feel like shelling out hundreds if not thousands of dollars to replace!

Cooktop repair cost comes down to two numbers: the $95 diagnostic and the repair price the technician gives you after testing the cooktop.
The $95 diagnostic
The diagnostic on a cooktop is $95, and it comes off the repair: agree to the job and the $95 is deducted from the price for parts and labor. You pay it separately only if you hear the price and decide not to repair — and if you change your mind later and call back, it still comes off the repair.
The repair price
The repair price itself depends on what is actually broken, and that is known after the diagnostic: one symptom can have several different causes, each with its own part and its own price. A burner that stays cold can need an element, a switch, wiring or a board relay. The technician tests the unit first, then gives you one price for the whole job, parts and labor, and you decide with that number in front of you.

Cooktop burner not working
One cold burner can come from the surface element, its switch, a loose wire or a damaged terminal block. The technician tests power through the circuit, checks the cooktop knob and replaces the element or switch that failed.
Gas cooktop burner won't light
A burner that clicks without lighting may have a wet or misaligned cap, a weak igniter, a failed spark module or a valve problem. The technician checks the burner first, then tests spark and gas flow before naming the repair.
Induction cooktop not working
An induction zone that stays cold or a unit that will not power on can point to the induction coil, power board or cooling fan. The technician reads any error code and tests the power and cooling circuits before replacing a module.
Cracked glass cooktop
Cracked glass-ceramic is handled by replacing the glass top, not filling the crack. The technician confirms the correct glass assembly, checks the frame, elements and sensors underneath, and explains the repair price before the replacement starts.
Cooktop touch controls not working
Unresponsive or erratic touch controls can come from the sensor panel, ribbon cable or control board. The technician checks the connections and power supply, then tests the panel and board separately.
Cooktop not heating
If the whole stove top or range top stays cold, the heating element, control-board relay, temperature limiter or incoming power may be involved. The technician checks power first and follows it through the cooktop before replacing a part.

Why does my cooktop igniter keep clicking?
Moisture or a misaligned burner cap can keep the igniter clicking, and a worn igniter, spark module or valve switch can do the same. The technician checks the burner and cap first, then tests the ignition circuit to find the failed part.
Do you warranty cooktop repairs?
The warranty is 90 days on both the part and the labor, written on the invoice you keep. That is the term our parts suppliers give us, and we pass the same term on to you. If the same problem comes back within those 90 days, the return visit is on us.
Do you repair induction cooktops?
Yes. The technician tests the induction coils, power boards, touch controls and cooling fan, and reads any error code before naming the repair. Tell us the brand and code on the display when you book.
